Tree Fern, New Zealand

This photograph was taken near Lake Brunner, South Island in December 2025. New Zealand is home to a unique, prehistoric population of tree ferns (locally known as ponga), including about 10 native species, 8 of which are endemic. They really do look prehistoric.
